Hook-to-Hook service is included as part of your 6mR 2017 registration.
The intention of the Hook-to-Hook service is to help participants get their boats from shipping container to regatta site, or from trailer to regatta site, and back again.
We have a team of 6 Metre sailors, all in the boating business, and experienced with multiple Worlds and Europeans, that can assist you in Vancouver.
How it works
Boats will be unloaded out of container, launched, and towed to regatta site. Mast will be stepped at launch site by participating team. Each boat owner to provide instructions to Steve White concerning the stepping of the mast and the launching of the boat. If you need help with stepping the mast, we can provide the service for an extra fee. Boats will be towed back to container site and loaded. Mast assembly and disassembly are not included but are available at an extra cost.
To qualify, boats must meet the following requirements:
- Boat needs to be in an open top container. This will probably be a high top.
- Single point lift only.
- Hull plugs must be stored in an easy to find location.
- Boat must be ready to launch. Minimal crane time will be assigned to each boat so there will not be any time to do anything but minor hull prep before launch.
- An owner representative must be on site during unloading and loading.
At this point the launching dates are not determined. Once transport has been finalized launching dates will be determined. If enough boats arrive early, an early launch date can be set up.
We are here to make launch and towing as easy as possible for all participants and appreciate that it can be a daunting experience when coming to a location that you are not familiar with.
